100 copies: in sleeves hand signed by Jackie Starr, individually numbered, with insert.

Jackie Starr… well, where to begin. From what I understand these tapes had been making the circuit for close to a decade before I ever heard them. What they are is basically musical phone pranks, or more specifically it’s “Jackie Starr” calling peoples musician wanted ads and not necessarily pranking them, but just talking to them for LONG periods of time, rambling on and on! I don’t know how to explain it, you have to hear it to understand!

I got turned onto Jackie by Sean from the Toilet Boys, he brought the tape along when we did the first US tour in fall of 2001. I couldn’t believe how much it made me laugh! It got to the point where everyone else in the van on tour was TOTALLY burned out on it, but I couldn’t get enough! I remember having to sneak back out to the van after dropping them off for sound check to listen to it!

So when we got back from tour, I contacted Jackie and asked him about doing a release. He’s now living in Sweden, so via email we lined everything up and I got the vinyl pressed. He was over in NYC on some business and came by the office and we made the covers, he hand signed them all!

As far as ‘cult classics’ I think this will be the ultimate one ever on Outlaw. I still laugh my ass off every time I hear it, and once in a while I still get an email from someone who found my site and knows Jackie’s work. “What kind of underwear do you guys wear?”
